S4 Technologies Inc. is seeking a qualified Data Center Engineer to perform duties requiring the theoretical and practical application of specialized knowledge in computer engineering, information technology, and network infrastructure systems. This position qualifies as a specialty occupation and requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Detailed Job Duties
The Data Center Engineer will perform the following duties:
- Design, implement, and maintain data center infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and network components
- Install, configure, and manage physical and virtual servers, including operating systems and virtualization platforms
- Monitor and maintain data center operations, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability
- Manage network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers
- Perform capacity planning, system upgrades, and performance tuning of data center systems
- Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues
- Ensure compliance with security policies, access controls, and data protection standards
- Work with cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments (AWS, Azure, or similar)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployment and infrastructure needs
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, network architecture, and operational procedures
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or foreign equivalent)
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, networking, and system administration
- Experience with servers, storage systems, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V)
- Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, routing, firewalls)
- Experience with Linux/Windows system administration
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Knowledge of DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Splunk, Prometheus, etc.)
- Relevant certifications (Cisco, VMware, AWS, etc.)
